「MANY FACES」は、Selen Gülünによる新作デュオアルバムです。
共演者に、ハクエイ・キム（p）、太田惠資（vln）、五十嵐一生 (tpt)、Marcello Allulli（ts）を迎えて日本とイタリアでレコーディングされました。
アルバムは8曲で構成され、そのうち4曲はSelenのオリジナル作曲、4曲は即興演奏です。
「MANY FACES」のアイデアは、2016年から2018年までに日本、イタリア、トルコで行われた、五十嵐さん、太田さん、ハクエイさん、そしてMarcelloと行なってきたセッションから生まれました。 https://selengulun.bandcamp.com/

MANY FACES is Selen Gülün’s new duo album recorded live in Japan and Italy featuring Hakuei Kim (p), Keisuke Ohta (vln), Issei Igarashi (tpt), and Marcello Allulli (ts). It is comprised of 8 tracks, of which 4 are Selen’s original compositions and 4 are free improvisations performed by Selen in duo formation with the 4 other artists. SELEN GÜLÜN | セレン・ギュリュン

作曲家、ピアニスト、歌手、編曲者。様々な現代音楽のスタイルでの作曲やパフォーマンスが特徴。彼女が作曲した音楽は、母国トルコのみならず、オーストリア、ドイツ、オランダ、英国、スウェーデン、デンマーク、イタリア、フランス、米国、ブラジル、日本、カンボジア、パキスタン、リトアニア、ロシア、モザンビーク等、世界各国で演奏されている。これまでにCDアルバム、「Just About Jazz Live 」(recjazz, 2005年)、「Selen Gülün Trio Sürprizler」 (recjazz, 2006年)、「Selen Gülün by Selen Gülün」 (re:konstruKt, 2009年)、「Answers」 (pozitif, 2010年)、「Başka」 (linrecords, 2013年), 「Kadinlar Matinesi」(A.K. Müzik, 2017年), 「Many Faces」(iKi Muzik, 2019年)を発表。「Many Faces」は、Selen Gülünによる新作デュオアルバムです。共演者に、ハクエイ・キム（p）、五十嵐一生 (tpt)、太田惠資（vln）、Marcello Allulli（ts）を迎えて日本とイタリアでレコーディングされました。「Answers」は、ディスクユニオンのJazz Tokyo Weekly Chartにて第6位を獲得、「Başka」は第4位を記録。また、2017年発売の「Kadinlar Matinesi」はトルコの女性作曲家たちをフューチャーしたコンサートシリーズである。作曲作品はthe Dartford Symphony Orchestra 、the Vellinger String Quartet (UK), Ensemble TRIS (Austria),、sa.ne.na Percussion Ensemble、Istanbul Modern Music Ensemble (Turkey)などに取り上げられている。Charles Mingus Composition Award 1998 (USA), やthe British Council Visiting Arts、Creative Collaboration in Music 2003 (UK), やFondazione Adkins Chiti: Donne in Musica’s Artist in Residence Award 2011(Italy) など、数多くの賞を受賞。イスタンブール大学国立コンサーバトリーで音楽を学んだ後、イスタンブール大学経営学科を卒業。その後、イスタンブールのミマール・シナン大学国立コンサーバトリーにて、さらに音楽教育を受ける。1996年には、奨学金を得てバークレー音楽大学に進学。1998年には同校のジャズ作曲学科を首席で卒業。イスタンブールに帰国後、2003年にはIstanbul Technical UniversityのCenter of Advanced Studies in Music (MIAM)にて音楽の修士号を取得。

As a leading contemporary musician in Turkey, Selen Gülün attained critical acclaim internationally with her music being performed in 20 countries around the world including the USA, Brazil, Japan, Cambodia, Pakistan, Russia, Mozambique, Australia, and all around Europe. Gülün has released seven albums: Just About Jazz Live (recjazz, 2005), Selen Gülün Trio Sürprizler (recjazz, 2006), Selen Gülün by Selen Gülün (re:konstruKt, 2009), Answers (pozitif, 2010), Başka (linrecords,2013), Kadinlar Matinesi (A.K. Müzik, 2017), Many Faces (iKi Muzik, 2019). Many Faces is Gülün’s new duo album recorded live in Japan and Italy featuring Hakuei Kim (p), Keisuke Ohta (vln), Issei Igarashi (tpt), and Marcello Allulli (ts). Answers reached #6 and Başka reached #4 in the Jazz Tokyo Weekly Chart. Kadinlar Matinesi (The Women’s Matinee) was born out of Gülün’s concert series featuring the works of women composers in Turkey. Gülün / Allulli / De Raymondi’s electroacoustic album KAPI is a multicultural project with her long-term Italian collaborators Marcello Allulli and Emanuele de Raymondi. Gülün’s compositions have been premiered by the Dartford Symphony Orchestra and the Vellinger String Quartet (UK), Ensemble TRIS (Austria), sa.ne.na Percussion Ensemble, and Istanbul Modern Music Ensemble (Turkey). She has received many awards including the Charles Mingus Composition Award 1998 (USA), the British Council Visiting Arts, Creative Collaboration in Music 2003 (UK), and Fondazione Donna Fondazione Adkins Chiti: Donne in Musica’s Artist in Residence Award 2011 (Italy). Gülün’s book entitled “Women and Music in Turkey” was published in April 2019, commissioned by Fondazione Adkins Chiti: Donne in Musica (Rome) and printed in an English/ Turkish edition by Istanbul Bilgi University Press. Gülün studied music at the Istanbul University and the Mimar Sinan University State Conservatories and graduated from Istanbul University’s Business Administration Department. In 1998, she received her B.A. in Jazz Composition summa cum laude from the Berklee College of Music. She received her Master’s in Music at Istanbul Technical University’s Center of Advanced Studies in Music (MIAM). She taught Piano Performance, Music Theory, and Composition at Istanbul Bilgi University’s Music Department from 1998 to 2015. She has given lectures on new music and contemporary music at the Berklee College of Music (Boston), The New School (New York), the Malmö Academy of Music, the Utrecht School of the Arts, TEDx Bogazici University among others.

KEISUKE OHTA | 太田惠資 (Composer, Violinist)

1956年熊本生まれ。５才よりヴァイオリンを始める。鹿児島大学で化学を専攻。
‘83年上京し、作・編曲家として出発。これまでに、CM、映画、演劇や、ファッションショー、プラネタリウムなどの音楽を数多く手懸けている。
ヴァイオリニストとしては民族音楽（トルコ、アラブ、インド、東欧、アイルランド）やジャズ、即興演奏を得意とする。勿論、スタジオやライブではあらゆるジャンルをこなす貴重な存在で、様々なアーティストやタレントの作品に参加。
日本人離れした声にも定評があり、TV、映画、ゲーム、CMなどに使われている。
またその個性的な風貌ゆえか、パフォーマンス・アーティストとして舞台に立つこともあり、海外公演も多い。
梅津和時の新大久保ジェントルメン、常味裕司(oud)とのArabindia、佐藤允彦(p.)のSTOY、渋さ知らズ、大熊亘(cl.)のCICALA-MVTA、高木潤一(g.)とのMASARA、芳垣安洋(per.)のVincent Atomicus、酒井泰三(g.)とのThe Electric Nomad、一噌幸弘(笛)トリオ、吉野弘志(b.) の「彼岸の此岸」、黒田京子(p.)トリオ、山口とも(per.)との太黒山、佐藤正治(per.vo.)のMASSA、立花泰彦(b.)TOY、超無国籍音楽集団JAZICO、吉見征樹(tabla)とのトーク・セッション「do SHOW(どぉしょう)」などのレギュラーメンバー。

ユダヤ人のヴァイオリン弾きとして出演した「GHETTO」(栗山民也　演出)は読売演劇大賞、毎日芸術大賞などを受賞した。
忌野清志郎の全国ツアー(武道館など)をサポート。
また、清水美沙主演映画「人間椅子」(江戸川乱歩原作・水谷俊之監督)・浅野忠信主演映画「白痴」(坂口安吾原作・手塚眞監督・橋本一子音楽)などに謎のヴァイオリン弾きとして出演。
NHK-BS「滝のアリア」(松見の滝–太田惠資編)。文学座公演「アラビアンナイト」、文楽人形「曽根崎心中ROCK」(近松門左衛門原作・阿木燿子構成作詞・宇崎竜童作曲)に参加。
上記の各レギュラーユニットの他、大槻ケンヂ、ソウル・フラワー・ユニオン、手使海ユトロ、中川ひろたか、ハシケン、弘田三枝子、The Boom、Cocco、Rikki(ファイナルファンタジーX挿入歌)、Yae、など多数のCDに参加。
TBS紀行番組「世界ウルルン滞在記」、TBSドラマ「年下の男」、同「高原へいらっしゃい」、NHK金曜時代劇・藤沢周平原作「蝉しぐれ」、映画「ニワトリはハダシだ」、アニメーション映画「河童のクゥと夏休み」、NHK大河ドラマ「龍馬伝」、日本テレビ終戦記念ドラマ「犬の消えた日」(作曲も担当)、映画「るろうに剣心」等の音楽でヴァイオリンやヴォイスを担当。
リーダーアルバム「Blue Ronde a la Turk」(ピアニストBill Maysとのduo)を発表。
毎月多彩なゲストを迎え、100回にも及ぶミュージックショー「ヴィオロンの太田惠資　ややっの夜(や)」を主催した。
今掘恒雄(g.)、岡部洋一(per.)を迎えて初のリーダーバンドYolcu-Yoldaş（ヨルジュ・ヨルダシュ）を結成。
トルコのピアニスト、ファジル・サイが主催する「アンタルヤ国際ピアノ・フェスティバル」に、山下洋輔のユニットで出演。

KEISUKE OHTA | 太田惠資 (Composer, Violinist)
Keisuke Ohta specializes in jazz and ethnic music (Turkish, Indian, eastern European, Irish) and is well known for his improvisation skills. He has an established reputation for his unique and distinct vocal and performance. As composer, he has produced a number of works for commercials, movies, stages, fashion shows and a planetarium. Also a film and stage actor, he earned the Yomiuri drama award and Mainichi art award for his role as a Jewish violinist in the drama “Ghetto” (directed by Tamiya Kuriyama).
Currently playing for a number of bands, he has performed around the world and has worked together with many different overseas artists from a broad range of musical genres. He formed his first ever own band “Yolcu-Yoldaş” in 2008 with Tsuneo Imahori (g) and Yoichi Okabe (per).
